Eco-Friendly Resort
A sustainable resort should be eco-friendly in a way and still attract the same amount of tourists. They can do this by using a renewable energy, recycling and a self-efficient system. Our resort fulfills all the requirements to be eco-friendly and sustainable. I asked myself before, what main problems are resorts lacking of to be eco-friendly? And the answer I got was one, greenery. Two, water. Three, electricity. Four, greenhouse gases. Let me start explaining.
Whenever people build a resort, deforestation ALWAYS happens. So what we need to maintain is the amount of greenery. The amount of trees that you cut down, it must be replanted so there is no reduction in greenery.
Wherever there is a resort, water is always used. The problem of water being used is that a lot of them go to waste. But not with this resort. With this resort, a river branches into two separate canals. One follows through the river while the other is being used for the resort. The water that goes into the resort goes through a purification plant and is able to be used. After it is used, it flows to another purification plant and the clean water is transferred back to the river whilst the waste water is being put into a man made lake. If the waste is a compost, then it will be transferred to the compost factory so it would act as a fertiliser for the organic garden.
Wherever there is a resort, A LOT of electricity is being consumed. In majority resorts, the electricity that they use is fossil fuels. Not only will this eventually run out, but it is also emitting greenhouse gases into the atmosphere which is contributing to global warming. In our resort, we use solar panels because it is a renewable energy and will never run out. Solar energy also won't harm the environment since it is not a fuel. We have solar panels in each chalet and a bigger one in the electricity plant to provide more electricity for both the chalets and the restaurant.
Wherever there is a resort, A LOT of greenhouse gases is being emitted into the atmosphere. Fossil fuels will lead to a greenhouse gas, as explained above. The other problem is that resorts need to use transports to import goods. In this resort, there is an organic garden and a fish farm which will not only cut down the amount of greenhouse gases, but will also feed the guests a healthier meal.

Chalets
Solar panels are situated on the roofs of the chalets to provide electricity. This is because solar energy is a renewable energy and will never run out.
Electricity Plant
To provide more electricity for the chalets.
Purification Plant
The water from the river is purified so the water can be used in the chalets. The pipes going to the chalets are underground.
Fish Farm
The fishes are taken from the river and taken care of in the fish farm then brought to the restaurant. This will save the amount of greenhouse gas being released into the atmosphere when needed to bring the fishes in. This will also provide healthier meals for the visitors.
Organic Vegetable Farm
Crops will be grown from the farm and treated without any sort of chemicals. After it is harvested, all the vegetables will be taken to the restaurant.
Sewage Purification Plant and Recycling Plant
The waste water will be filtered and the clean water goes back into the river. The waste water will be passed through an underground pipe to a man made lake which holds all the waste water. Any rubbish that can be recycled goes in there and will be processed.
Garbage Sorting Shed
The garbage will be sorted to whether if it is recyclable or not and will be transported to the Recycling Plant.
Compost Factory
The composts will be transported into the factory where it will turn into fertilizers and is able to grow the plants more efficiently.
My three main targets for this project is to:
1: Research more examples to add more ideas.
2: Find out what other ways that a certain feature might help.
3: Plan and prepare further so it will be a lot more easier to build.

Eco-Friendly House
Sadly, I don't have pictures of the plan of the house nor the house itself.
An eco-friendly house should have renewable energy and a self-efficient system. But sadly, we have renewable energy but not a self-efficient system because it will be too big then. Our house uses renewable energy and saves water. We use a range of renewable energy, wind turbines and solar panels. Insulation and skylights help to save electricity. Another problem is water, so to ensure that we do not waste any water, there is a rain collector and the rain collected can be filtered. Our house mostly has all the requirement to be an eco-friendly house. Originally, our house was a Science project to see how you can insulate a house. But since we added a bit more features, it also fits into an eco-friendly house. So we decided to use our Science model.
These are the features in the house:
Wind Turbines
Wind turbines are erected to provide electricity for houses. This saves the amount of electricity used from fossil fuels, which are not a renewable energy. Fossil fuels release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which contribute to global warming. Another disadvantage of fossil fuels is that it will eventually run out.
Solar Panels
One type is to create electricity while the other is to heat up water. This saves the amount of electricity used from fossil fuels.
Insulation
Cellulose insulation is created because the electricity used for heating will be saved.
Skylights
Skylights are created so not that many electricity are needed to provide light.
Rain Collector
Rain collector is made so that people won't waste water.
